O’Fallon senior Alyssa McMinn shot a 4-over par 75, and two teammates also broke 80 as the Panthers romped to the team title at the Southwestern Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Tuesday at the Orchards Golf Course in Belleville.
Brooke Boatman added a 76 and Natalie Meinkoth chipped in with a 77 for O’Fallon which finished tournament play with a 309 total, 27 strokes better than runner-up Edwardsville, which finished with a score of 336.
Junior Brianna McMinn rounded out the Panthers top four players with an 81. McMinn was fifth overall, three strokes behind Edwardsville senior Addyson Zeller, who placed fourth with a 78.
O’Fallon senior Emily Marrs was seventh overall with an 83, while the Panthers’ Liz Boehning tied with Edwardsville’s Jessica Benson and Sydney Sahuri for eighth place with an 85. Alton (370) and Belleville East (378) rounded out the top four teams.
Edwardsville wins seventh-straight SWC title
Edwardsville senior Tanner White shot an even-par 72 to lead the Tigers to a 25 stroke win at the Southwestern Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River.
The championship is the seventh in a row for Edwardsville and its 17th in the past 18 years.
The individual title is the second in three years for White, who also won the SWC championship as a sophomore. Edwardsville finished with a score of 301, while O’Fallon finished at 326. Belleville East (344) and Collinsville (357) rounded out the top four teams.
Lucas Verdun and Ben Tyrrell both shot 76, and Zach Trimpe completed the Tigers’ scoring with a 77.
