Winless in tournament play during the regular season, the Collinsville Kahoks continued to make up for lost time Saturday at Southern Illinois Bowl in Carterville.
Sophomore Clayton Hartmann and freshman Hayden Juenger both averaged well over 200 for their six-game session to lead the way as Collinsville claimed the team title at the Herrin Bowling Sectional.
One week after winning the Alton Regional, the Kahoks fought off tough lane conditions and a loaded field to finish with a team score of 6,.048 pins, 49 better than second place O’Fallon (5,999) and 89 more than third place Cahokia (5,959), as they moved into the IHSA state bowling tournament, which begins Friday at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon.
O’Fallon, led by individual medalist Justin Hess (1,369 pins) also advances as does Cahokia. The Comanches were led by freshman Ryan Bovee (1,214) and senior Michael McGarry (1,206).
