Flying into the Class 4A playoffs with a 26-0 record, Southwestern Conference girls basketball champ Edwardsville moved up to the No. 2 spot in the latest Associated Press Class 4A state rankings.
Belleville West also received votes in the 4A girls state poll, while Highland came in 14th in Class 3A.
Althoff (22-3) stayed at No. 5 in the new Class 3A boys state rankings while Centralia (21-4), the Crusaders’ South Seven Conference opponent on Friday, was listed at No. 6. The teams meet Friday at Althoff.
East St. Louis (16-6), which remains unbeaten in the SWC, stayed at No. 8 in the boys Class 4A rankings.

Nashville (25-3) dropped from second to fourth in the new Class 2A boys state rankings following a conference loss to Carterville last weekend. The Class 2A Carlyle Regional will now include three teams in the statewide Class 2A Top 10 rankings with No. 4 Nashville, No. 7 Mater Dei (19-9) and No. 9 Central (21-6).
Okawville (19-9) hung on to the No. 10 spot in the Class 1A boys state rankings.
