Okawville moved up from seventh to 10th in the new Class 1A boys state basketball rankings with the top-seeded Rockets about to begin play at the New Athens Regional.
Okawville (21-9) has won nine straight and the Rockets have one of the top scorers in Southern Illinois in sophomore Noah Frederking (21.2 points per game).
Three local teams competing in the Class 2A Carlyle Regional all remained in the top 10 as Nashville (25-3) came in fourth, Central (23-6) was eighth and Mater Dei (19-10) was 10th.
East St. Louis (17-6) remained in the No. 8 spot in Class 4A while Althoff (23-3) remained fifth in the Class 3A state rankings. Along with Althoff, the South Seven Conference also had two other teams in the 3A Top 10 with No. 8 Centralia (21-5) and No. 9 Carbondale (21-5).
