The Althoff Crusaders spread the wealth Tuesday as four players scored goals in a 4-0 win over Freeburg in a semifinal contest at the Class 1A Freeburg Soccer Sectional.
High-scoring Jimmy Monken tallied his 17th goal of the season while Christian Garcia, Tyler Stone and Mitchell Kidd also scored for Althoff (11-10-3), which advanced to take on Marquette in sectional title game Friday beginning at 5 p.m.
Freeburg ends its season at 15-11.
Marquette moves on
Lucas Wobbe scored a goal for the the Central, (16-3-1) but it wasn’t enough to stop the Explorers (13-6-1) from advancing into the title game.
Waterloo wins semifinal
Caden Gordon scored his 15th and 16 goals of the season as the third-seeded Bulldogs nipped the Jacksonville Crimsons on Tuesday in a semifinal round game at the Bethalto Sports Complex. Waterloo (15-8) will advance to play hometown rival Gibault in the regional title game at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Gibault (13-6-1) advanced Tuesday with an easy 6-1 win over Jerseyville.
Eagles advance still unbeaten
The top-seeded and undefeated Columbia Eagles got another sparkling effort from senior goalie Jon Kuebler as they defeated Highland 2-0 in the semifinals of the Class 2A Mascoutah Regional.
Kuebler picked up his 14th shutout of the season for Columbia (23-0-2), which received goals from Riley Hubler and Brennen vanBruesegen. The Eagles will play the winner of the game between fourth-seeded Mascoutah and fifth-seeded Triad in the regional final at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Triad-Mascoutah will be played at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mascoutah High School.
Belleville West eliminates O’Fallon
The Belleville West Maroons needed penalty kicks to defeat Southwestern Conference rival O’Fallon 3-2 in the semifinals of the Class 3A Edwardsville Regional on Tuesday.
Garrett Bass and Xavier Brown scored goals for the fourth-seeded Maroons (12-7-3), who advance to play host Edwardsville in the title game at 10 a.m. Saturday. O’Fallon (9-9-4) got goals from Jordan Ellis and Jake Koenig.
Noll leads Edwardsville
Bayne Noll scored twice and the top-seeded Tigers ended the Warriors’ season with a 2-0 win. Noll scored one goal in each half for the Tigers (15-1-3), who reached the title game.
Quincy blanks Belleville East
The Blue Devils the Lancers East in check as they eliminated them at Springfield High School. Seventh-seed East finished its season at 13-9.
Liljegren leads Kahoks to win
Luke Liljegren scored twice as the third-seeded Kahoks advanced with a shutout win over the sixth-seeded Senators. Collinsville (15-7) will take on Quincy in the title game at 6 p.m. Friday.
