Central Cougars are Class 2A state runners up

The Central Cougars fell just short of a state championship, losing 55-51 to Bishop McNamara in the Class 2A state championship game. The game turned during a 15-3 run in the third quarter when McNamara wiped out a 9 point deficit.

McNamara drained two late three pointers, including one at the buzzer, to pull within three points of Central. Heading into the fourth quarter, Central leads 34-31.

At halftime, the Central Cougars lead the (Kankakee) Bishop McNamara Fightin’ Irish 23-18. All-state junior center Kendra Wilkins has a double-double to lead Central. Khadaizha Sanders, the all-state point guard for McNamara has three fouls and hasn’t scored. Wilkins has two fouls.
