Edwardsville High sophomore Rachel Pranger and Civic Memorial junior Allie Troeckler were the only metro-east players to crack second-team all-state honors Thursday when the Associated Press released its Class 3A and Class 4A Girls Basketball All-State Teams.

The 5-foot-10 Pranger averaged 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds for a 30-2 Edwardsville team that reached the Bloomington Super-Sectional before losing to Benet Academy. The Division I prospect also had 50 steals.

Troeckler, a 5-10 junior, averaged 22.5 points and 8.2 rebounds for a 17-10 Eagles squad that won the regional and lost to 3A state tourney qualifier Highland in the sectional. Troeckler also had 89 blocked shots.

Being voted to the 4A honorable mention squad was Edwardsville junior guard and Division I prospect Makenzie Silvey. Silvey led the Tigers in scoring (16.3 points per game) and in 3-pointers (67) while averaging 3.6 assists.

Earning honorable mention in Class 3A were Highland senior Amanda Ponce and Triad senior Sophie Thompson.

The 5-9 Ponce helped Highland (30-4) reach the Class 3A state tournament, where the Bulldogs will face North Lawndale in the semifinals on Friday in Normal.

Ponce is averaging 16.1 points and 4.4 rebounds and three assists. She also has 37 3-pointers and 63 steals.

Thompson is a 5-10 senior guard headed to Central Methodist and became Triad's all-time leading scorer this season with more than 1,500 career points.

Thompson averaged 20.2 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Knights (23-4), sinking 67 3-pointers.
