East softball starts busy week with win over Althoff

Belleville East had 16 hits and starting pitcher Kristina Bettis allowed no earned runs through four innings in the Lancers’ 12-2 win over Althoff on Monday.

Alex Boze blasted her ninth home run of the season and added two RBIs to her East-leading 32 total runs batted in.

Sophomore Jackie Belzer added a double and two RBIs among her three hits; senior outfielder Amanda Dermody also went 3-for-4 with a pair RBIs; Jasimine Poore, Savanna Watts and Bettis each had RBI hits.

Bettis gave up one hit while striking out four and walking two to pick up the win in the pitcher’s circle.

Alyssa Peterson took the loss for the Crusaders, who fell to 3-13. Althoff next faces South Seven Conference rival Cahokia on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Lancers have games the next there days, including a Southwestern Conference showdown at home against Edwardsville on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
