Mascoutah scored a touchdown in each quarter to defeat Civic Memorial, 28-0, in Mississippi Valley Conference play in Bethalto Friday night.
Running back Ronald Clay ground out 94 yards on 24 carries, including the game’s first score at the 8:42 mark of the first quarter.
Treshaun Buckingham scored twice on big plays, first on a 61-yard run and again on a 44-yard pass reception from Devon Ross. Buckingham finished the game with four catches for 77 yards.
Albert Williams capped the scoring for the Indians with a seven-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
The Mascoutah defense completed its first shutout of the season thanks in part to a pair of quarterback sacks by Issac Beck and one each by Malik Green and Justin Haas.
The Indians improved to 3-4 on the season and will have to win both at home against Highland next week and at Centralia in the season’s finale.
Civic Memorial is 1-6.
