The St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday released their 2017 schedule, which begins with a game against the Chicago Cubs at 3:15 p.m. April 3 at Busch Stadium.
The three-game series against the Cubs continues at 7:15 p.m. on April 5 and 12:45 p.m. April 6. It starts a six-game homestand that includes three against the Cincinnati Reds on April 7-9.
St. Louis will play the Cubs 19 times next season. The other series are: May 12-14 in St. Louis, June 2-4 in Chicago, July 21-23 in Chicago, Sept. 15-17 in Chicago and Sept. 25-28 in St. Louis. The first and last series against the Cubs are the only ones not on a weekend.
This season, the Cardinals and Cubs had just two of their six series on weekends.
The Cardinals will be on the road for 16 of their 27 games in June, 17 of their 28 games in August and 16 of their 29 games in September. They will be home for 15 of 25 games in April, 15 of 27 games in May and 16 of 27 games in July.
The regular season ends with a home game against Milwaukee at 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 1.
The Cardinals will play interleague games at Busch Stadium against Toronto (April 25-27), Boston (May 16-17), Kansas City (Aug. 9-10) and Tampa Bay (Aug. 25-27). Interleague opponents on the road will be the New York Yankees (April 14-16), Baltimore (June 16-18), Kansas City (Aug. 7-8) and Boston (Aug. 15-16).
The All-Star Game is July 11 in Miami.
