Winter League update

Cardinals outfield prospect Jon Jay has continued his hot hitting into October. The Class AAA outfielder is hitting .321 for the Leones del Caracas in Venezuela. The only down side is that all nine of his hits have been singles. He has two walks and two strikeouts in 28 at bats.

Shortstop Jose Garcia, who hit .261 in a 2009 season split between Advanced Class A Palm Beach and Class A Quad Cities, is hitting an even .300 with the Tigres de Aragua.

Catching prospect Bryan Anderson, who played in only 58 minor league games -- 53 at Class AAA Memphis -- due to injury, is hitting .375 in in only eight at bats in the winter league.

Pitcher Mike Parisi, who struggled to an 0-2 record with a 4.70 ERA in only 15 1/3 innings in the low minors in 2009, is 0-1 with a 1.80 ERA in five winter league innings. He's struck out three and walked one.

Palm Beach pitcher Richard Castillo, who was 6-13 with a 3.17 ERA in 2009, is 0-1 with a 7.94 ERA for the Cardenales de Lara. He's given up 11 hits in 5/23 innings while striking out five and walking two.
