If Roy Oswalt wanted to show the Cardinals that he can help them beat the Reds in the NL Central race, he sure has a funny way of showing it.
Oswalt got pummeled by the Reds Saturday night, trying to tie the Astros team record for career victories, he instead lost for the 12th time in 18 decisions this season. He gave up nine hits, a walk and five earned runs in five innings as Houston lost 7-0 to Cincinnati.
The Reds scored against Oswalt in each of the first three innings, putting the game out of reach with the help of a pair of homers.
It's uncertain at this point if the poor performance had anything to do with Oswalt taking a line drive off his foot in his previous start. But what is certain is that, if this was Oswalt's last home start for the Astros, it's not the way he would have preferred to be remembered.
