Cardinals infielder Julio Lugo could miss a week, according to the team, thanks to a groin strain he suffered in his last at bat Saturday.
Normally, you'd hate to see a player who is fighting for a job go on the shelf at such a key time. But Lugo has been on fire lately, proving that he still has it with the bat. And that's something the Cardinals need off the bench. So, as long as a week doesn't turn into two or three, this shouldn't threaten the veteran middle infielder's shot at making the opening day roster.
It will give Tyler Greene more of an opportunity to jump start his slow spring so he can try to make a bid for a roster spot.
