According to Fox Sports Midwest, the Cardinals will skip Jaime Garcia's next turn in the rotation because of fatigue in his pitching arm.
Garcia apparently told manager Tony La Russa that he didn't want to end his season because he wasn't willing to quit on the team. But, let's be realistic, it's going to take divine intervention for the Redbirds to make the post season. Shut Garcia down for the rest of the year and don't take chances with his surgically repaired pitching arm.
For a guy who had Tommy John surgery in 2009 -- not to mention the fact that he's in his first major league season -- he's logged an awful lot of innings. Pat him on the back and say "job well done, young man."
While I believe there are several guys who have quit on this team, Garcia certainly isn't one of them. He's done everything you could ask of him and more.
