Nate Robertson has been released by the Cardinals -- and he quickly signed on with the Phillies.
The former Tigers starter, who was with that club in 2006 when it took on St. Louis in the World Series, was released by Florida at the end of July and was snapped up by the Cardinals who assigned him to Class AAA Memphis. But he had an ERA north of 9.00 in nine appearances for the Redbirds. He asked for his release and it was granted.
He was 2-1 with a 9.45 ERA in Memphis. He allowed 32 hits in 20 inning pitched. Opponents hit .360 against him including five homers.
Philadelphia assigned Robertson to their Class AAA club.
