Three teams have emerged as the most likely landing spots for former Tigers outfieder Gary Sheffield.
Although only the Phillies have been confirmed, by piecing together reports and connecting dots, it would seem that the other two are the Braves and the Reds. It's somewhat surprising that Sheffield is looking in the NL, since he has been a designated hitter the last several years. But Sheffield sounded downright philosophical about the situation this morning on MLB-TV when he said that he thinks by agreeing to DH with the Tigers and Yankees that he saved his legs to allow an outfield return.
The Reds are looking for cheap pop for their lineup while the Phillies are looking for a glorified pinch hitter and part time flychaser. Atlanta is looking to fill the role it expected to plug Ken Griffey Jr. into before he decided to return to Seattle.
