Game 12, Cardinals at Cubs, April 17

It looked like things were going to get out of hand early when the Cubs had their ace on the mound and the Cardinals were down 3-0 with P.J. Walters making his major league debut.

But when Albert Pujols could only muster a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, Ryan Ludwick finished the job with a three run homer to left and it looked like the Redbirds would have a chance to steal one.

Unfortunately, the bullpen got into the act and blew a game for the third time this young season.

Cardinals Star of the Game: Ludwick hit a pair of homers as backstop for slugger Albert Pujols and paced the offense.

Lowlight: How do you walk Aaron Miles to bring the go ahead run to the plate. If chris Perez is afraid to challenge the little guy, what chance does he really have to be a major league closer? There is no excuse for putting up seven runs against Zambrano and the Cubs and walking away with a loss.
