Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols is going to have surgery on his ailing right elbow Wednesday, according to Fox Sports.
But it's not the nuclear option: Tommy John surgery that could put Pujols out for the better part of next season. It is surgery to remove some bone spurs that have been causing the big guy discomfort.
The surgery, to be done in Birmingham, Ala. by Dr. George Paleta and Dr. James Andrews, is expected to be fully healed in time for Pujols to start spring training with his teammates.
Hopefully nothing unexpected will present itself when they open Pujols up and this won't turn into a Troy Glaus situation...
