The Cardinals have disabled Jeff Suppan, who has a mild groin strain, and replaced him on the roster with Class AA catcher Steven Hill.
Hill will provide the Cardinals with some insurance behind the plate after backup catcher Jason LaRue was injured -- some reports say he may have a concussion -- by Reds pitcher Johnny Cuetto who kicked him in the head with his spikes during Tuesday night's fracas between the two clubs.
Although Hill was hitting .280 with 22 homers and 86 RBIs at the Class AA level, I'm a little bit surprised that he got the call over Class AAA receivers Bryan Anderson and Matt Pagnozzi. Both of those players have had a chance to get their feet wet at the major league level.
