Don't give up yet on the prospects of the Cardinals improving their bullpen.
Oakland slugger Jason Giambi is about to come of the disabled list, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, meaning the Athletics will have to shed a player to make room. Could it be two-time former Cardinals reliever Russ Springer who hirs the waiver wire?
Springer will get what's left of a $3.3 million contract if he is claimed. Four teams were said to be interested before the deadline, but none liked Oakland's demand of a starting pitching prospect for a 40-year-old middle reliever.
