Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said during the broadcast Monday night that injured third baseman Troy Glaus is responding to shoulder treatment and is ready to make the next step in his effort to get into game action for the first time this season.
Glaus passed strength tests needed to allow him to resume baseball activities. No timetable was given for the former All-Star third sacker's return. But Mozeliak said he is encouraged that Glaus will be a factor before the end of the year.
The bad news is that the results of Glaus' tests was something in the middle of the road. If it was he is going to be back next week or else he was done for the season, the Cardinals course of action would be clear. But, while he said he will still look for help outside the organization, it's very likely Mozeliak will take the wait and see approach before he makes a trade to bolster the offense.
