Sunday's rainout in Miami may have been a blessing in disguise for the Cardinals.
Not only did the team get to skip a start by Jeff Suppan, a pitcher I think we can all agree isn't exactly one of the team's best options. It also got a chance to get the bullpen an extra day of rest, setting it up to be in good shape for the suddenly very important series with the Reds.
When Suppan starts, the Redbirds are lucky to get five innings of work. On a Tony La Russa team, that could mean four or more relievers would have had to work.
The Cardinals really need to be at their best against Cincinnati. They have fallen two games back in the standings, which means either they win the upcoming series or they start to fade in the Reds' rear view mirror.
