Ludwick to remain with the Fathers?

Cardinals fans hoping that former right fielder Ryan Ludwick could be brought back into the fold could be headed for a disappointment.

Ludwick, who struggled to the tune of a .211 batting average with little power after being shipped to the most pitcher friendly ballpark in baseball, was thought to be a non-tender candidate. But Padres GM Jed Hoyer told that he will almost certainly offer arbitration to Ludwick, keeping him in San Diego fold for the 2011 season.

He made about $5.5 million through arbitration last season. It is thought that Ludwick will probably get about $7 million if he gets a contract through arbitration this off-season. He's eligible to be a free agent after 2011.
