Cardinals fans hoping that former right fielder Ryan Ludwick could be brought back into the fold could be headed for a disappointment.
Ludwick, who struggled to the tune of a .211 batting average with little power after being shipped to the most pitcher friendly ballpark in baseball, was thought to be a non-tender candidate. But Padres GM Jed Hoyer told MLB.com that he will almost certainly offer arbitration to Ludwick, keeping him in San Diego fold for the 2011 season.
He made about $5.5 million through arbitration last season. It is thought that Ludwick will probably get about $7 million if he gets a contract through arbitration this off-season. He's eligible to be a free agent after 2011.
