Former Cardinals outfielder Juan Encarnacion has been pretty scarce since he suffered a career-ending eye injury while standing on deck at Busch Stadium.
Aside from an odd report on the radio from one of his former teammates about his recovery, Encarnacion has pretty much been an under the radar type of guy. Well, he's finaly popped back up on the screen. But given his low key personality, his new career choice is raising more than a few eyebrows.
Encarnacion, according to multiple reports, is running for a Senate seat in his native Dominican Republic.
I don't know about his politics. But I hear his campaign slogan claims he will hustle for the people of the Dominican Republic just like he hustled around the bases as a major leaguer. And his opponent's slogan is "vote for Encarnacion and he will hustle for the people of the Dominican Republic as much as he hustled around the bases when he was a major leaguer."
See, in the Dominican, even political foes can agree on something.
