Former Cardinals "pitcher" Mike Lincoln will compete for the fifth spot in the Reds rotation, according to mlb.com.
Lincoln has made 19 starts over the course of his career, the most recent in 2000, his second season in the majors.
He is about as fragile as they come... If you don't remember his time with the Cardinals, it's because after he signed with the club in 2004, he only managed to pitch 17 unremarkable innings before sitting out the next three seasons of major league play with never-ending injuries. So now he is going to pitch every fifth day under pitcher destroying manager Dusty Baker?
So this guy is going to pitch 200 innings as a starter? If I was Mark Mulder, I think I would be giving Cincinnati a call right about now. Apparently they are just that desperate.
