Sandberg to leave Cubs organization over snub

As speculated, former Cubs star Ryne Sandberg has told the franchise that he will leave the organization after being passed over in his bid to be the team's next manager, according to a story in the Chicago Sun-Times.

Sandberg said he will pursue opportunities with other organizations instead of returning as the skipper of the Class AAA Iowa Cubs.

The Pirates, Blue Jays, Brewers, Mets and Marlins all have openings for a new field manager.

"I just digest it today and just kind of change my focus and change my way of thinking a little bit and see if there’s another opportunity out there somewhere to manage at the major league level or coach at the major league level,’’ Sandberg told the Sun Times. "There’s some possibilities."
