Pujols to bat cleanup tonight

In what certainly is a sign that the end of the world is near, Cardinals manager Tony La Russa will bat Albert Pujols in the cleanup spot tonight.

La Russa has steadfastly refused to remove Pujols from the third spot in the batting order where he is guaranteed to bat in the first inning -- even if there are two outs and no one is on base. But the horrible hitting of Matt Holliday has forced the skipper's hand and presumably the $120 million man will be protected by Pujols tonight instead of protecting him.

Also, according to the Cardinals' website, Felipe Lopez has been activated from the disabled list and will bat leadoff.
