The Cardinals are reported to be one of several teams that has contacted former American League Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon about attempting a Major League comeback.
A report on ESPN Deportes said Colon, who now claims to be healthy after suffering elbow problems, has been in touch with the Cardinals, Yankees, Tigers and Rockies about pitching for them in 2011.
Colon last pitched in the majors in 2009 with the White Sox and was 3-6 with a 4.19 ERA in 62 1/3 innings pitched. In his career, he's 150-103 with a 4.10 ERA. His best season was 2005 when he was 21-8 with a 3.48 ERA with the Indians and named the top hurler in the AL. He also won 20 games in 2002 for Cleveland and Montreal.
