If the Cardinals are interested in signing Yankees free agent Chien-Ming Wang, they shouldn't count on him being ready to contribute any time soon.
According to mlb.com, scouts from the Dodgers watched Wang throw this week and they estimate he'll be game ready in three months at best. He is currently only throwing off of flat ground and it seems that he may be pushing his recovery in effort to try to get a contract sooner rather than later.
That could bite the signing team if Wang isn't ready and hurts himself by trying to do too much too soon.
While the Cardinals were said to be in the hunt for Wang, I wonder if they have given up following the signing of Rich Hill. The word is that the Birds have no interest in adding more pitching, which includes John Smoltz.
