The Cardinals and Athletics should soon decide whether they can swing a deal to bring Matt Holliday to St. Louis.
According to SI's John Heyman, the teams have had intense negotiations about the former Rockies slugger centered around a package that includes top Cardinals prospect Brett Wallace and the chances are "good" that a deal will be completed.
Apparently the teams have reached the point in negotiations that the Cardinals have asked for Oakland to pay a part of Holliday's salary in exchange for throwing in Brett Wallace for a rental. I still wish the Birds would ask for a window to negotiate a contract extention, but that may not be practical at this point.
San Francisco is apparently aslo interested in Holliday while the Tigers interest is said to haved waned a bit. Philadelphia may be looking for outfield help, but the Phillies are working hard to acquire Toronto ace Roy Halladay, so they Holliday is likely on the back burner.
