Rarely do I quote punk rock stars when it comes to mattes of professional sports. But I think the Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten said it best when he asked the musical question "Ever feel like you've been cheated?"
With all of the other things that went wrong in the Cardinals NLDS sweep at the hands of the Dodgers, i feel most cheated by the high powered offense that averaged a whopping two runs a game during the series.
These weren't the Sandy Koufaxes and the Don Drysdales of Dodgers pitching lore. The Cardianls were completely shut down by journeymen hurlers Vincente Padilla and Rany Wolf and second year pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
Sadly, the highlight of the series was the Busch Stadium fans' standing ovation for game two goat Matt Holliday. I wonder if it will make any difference when Holliday is negotiating his next contract that he was treated so well after he cost the Cardinals an important playoff game by dropping an easy fly ball.
