Former Cardinals outfielder Chris Duncan is reportedly drawing plenty of interest on the free agent market.
He is said to have at least four teams interested in his once productive bat. No specifics about the offers. But after the lousy last two seasons he had in a Cardinals uniform, all Duncan can really ask for at this point is a chance to prove he is finally healthy and that he can hit like he did early in his St. Louis Career.
If he has healed from the neck problem that seemingly changed him from a powerful lefty swinger to the perfect practice partner for pitchers who wanted to work of fielding grounders back to the mound, Duncan could be an excellent pickup for an American League club. And being able to play his natural position, designated hitter, could only help his cause.
I think it will also help Duncan to play somewhere besides St. Louis where he won't have the "coaches kid" stigma adding extra pressure.
No word on Shelly Duncan, Chris' brother, who was released by the Yankees.
