The Brewers have former Cardinals All-Star Jim Edmonds working out at first base early in spring training.
"Willie [Randolph, Milwaukee's infield coach] had him over there the other day and he was picking it pretty good," Brewers manager Ken Macha told mlblogs.com.
Edmonds has played a total of 51 games at first base over the course of his career, so it isn't like it's new to him. But by making himself appear as versatile as possible he increases his chance of finding a spot with the Brewers.
But it's not likely to earn Jimmy Ballgame any additional playing time if he makes the Milwaukee roster, according to the blog. Starting first sacker Prince Fielder played all but four innings of the 2009 season at first base for the Brew Crew.
