While the Cardinals aren't getting much offense from the shortstop position in the majors, their Class AA shortstop is winning awards for his production.
First round draft pick Peter Kozma was named the Texas League Player of the Week for May 3-9 based on his .355 batting average with 10 RBIs over that span. Kozma ranks sixth in the league in RBIs with 19. He trails a pair of fellow Cardinals: Catcher Steven Hill with 26 and first baseman Andrew Brown 25.
Despite the great week, Kozma's hitting only .232 in Class AA where he struggled to a .216 average last season after a promotion from Class A Palm Beach where he was hitting .315.
As Felipe Lopez nears a return from the disabled list, recently re-acquired Cardinals second baseman Aaron Miles continues to hit well at Springfield. Throught 15 at bats he's got a .333 batting average with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and four RBIs.
