It's a real shame that the Cardinals bullpen blew up and frittered away a 6-1 lead and Adam Wainwright's chance to win 20 games for the first time.
It's an even bigger shame that the Cardinals bullpen is in a complete shambles on the eve of the playoffs. Kyle McClellan, one of the most reliable pieces in a shallow bullpen was blasted with three hits and a walk to give up four runs in a third of an inning.
Did I mention the fact that the defense was bad, too.

Wainwright could have all but cemented the 2009 NL Cy Young Award with a dominating victory. Instead, he was just pretty good with three runs allowed on five hits and a walk in six innings. On the plus side, he struck out eight.
Cardinals Star of the Game: Pujols was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Lowlight: It looks like John Smoltz will be the Redbirds fourth starter in the playoffs instead of the eighth inning guy, so someone needs to step up. And the number one candidate, Kyle McClellan, didn't inspire a lot of confidence Friday.
