Down on the Farm: Memphis pitching update

Clayton Mortonson has pitched to a 6-3 record for Class AAA Memphis with a 3.38 ERA and 64 hits allowed in 74 2/3 innings. He's struck out 54 and walked 27.

Ian Ostland, one of the mediocre at best lefties the Cardinals stockpiled during the spring in hopes that someone would be decent enough to get by, has been pummeled by minor league hitters. He is sporting an ERA of 8.72 which was greatly enhanced by the nine earned runs he surrendered on eight hits in two-thirds of an innings pitched June 14.

Since returning to Class AAA Memphis after an ill-fated one-game major league call up, Jess Todd is back to his dominant ways closing out games for the Redbirds. He has made three appearances, not allowing a run while adding a save to his resume. Todd is 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA. He has racked up 37 strikeouts with nine walks in 27 1/3 innings.
