Ryan Ludwick was held out of the Cardinals Saturday game against the Astros with an oblique
strain, according to the team.

"Lud came in and he got a little tweak in his oblique," manager Tony La Russa told mlb.com.
"He wants to play with it, but Barry [Weinberg, head athletic trainer] said, 'Why push it?
' And I totally agree. He took 1,000 swings yesterday after the game was over.
He stayed back, and I don't think I'll play him tomorrow either."
Also held out of the Saturday game were outfielder/third baseman Joe Mather and pitcher
Sean Garceau who were suffering flu-like symptoms.
