Pujols almost pays price of Schumaker error

Operation Move Skip Schumaker to Second Base was dealt another blow today when he committed two of a completely unacceptable six errors in the Cardinals loss to the Marlins.

One of them illustrated how serious of a situation having an experienced second sacker can be. Schumaker made a wild throw that forced Cardinals first baseman / meal ticket Albert Pujols to reach across the baserunner to try to catch the ball. That's a good way for a first baseman to get his arm broken.

The fielding errors weren't the most amazing thing to happen in the game, although they contributed to it: The Cardinals managed to score eight runds in a single inning -- and lose. How odd is it that they were shut out in the other eight innings.
