The Cardinals report that slugging first baseman Albert Pujols has been hampered the last three weeks by an injured left elbow.
Manager Tony La Russa said during an interview of KTRS AM 550 that Pujols injured the elbow in Pittsburgh and that it has caused Pujols problems with his swing. The injury -- which the manager describes as a "jam" -- coincides with the end of Pujols' red hot August.
In August, Pujols hit .379 with 11 homers and 23 RBIs. Over the last two weeks, he's hitting .186 with three homers and seven RBIs.
