Friday night's game against the Reds is one the Cardinals should have won. But two bad innings from Joel Pineiro to start the contest spotted Cincy a 5-0 lead and St. Louis was unable to dig out of the hole.
Pineiro was hit hard by the Reds regulars and a late rally left them on the short end of a 6-4 score.

Cardinals Star of the Game: Chris Duncan was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI as he tried to lead the Redbirds comeback.
Lowlight: Pineiro's rough night with his glove and his arm was tough to overcome. But Joe Thurston had a night to forget by hitting into a double play with the bases loaded and no one out in a game where his team was down by 5. Then he inexplicably got thrown out -- by plenty -- trying to steal second base with no one out in the ninth with the tying run at the plate. I just don't get what he was thinking with that one.
