The Cubs may have found their answer for what they're going to do with embattled high dollar hurler Carlos Zambrano.
Big Z, as he likes to be called, apparently is suffering from a bout of appendicitis. According to reports out of Chicago, the offending organ may have to be surgically removed. If that happens, it would buy the Wee Bears at least a month of Zambrano on the disabled list as they try to figure out which one of the starting pitchers better than Zambrano will be bumped from the rotation to accommodate the big lug.
Zambrano, who is 1-3 with a 6.46 ERA, was expected to return to being a starter next week in the Cubs series against the Pirates. He's allowed 42 hits in 30 1/3 innings so far this season and allows 1.76 baserunners per inning pitched.
