Former Cardinals utility infielder Joe Thurston has signed with Atlanta.
Thurston started off hot with the Cardinals in 2009. He batted .278 in April after winning a job in spring training. But after that he struggled to keep his head above water hitting .209 in May, .194 in June, .245 in July, .231 in August and .174 in September and October.
While he obviously wasn't in the Redbirds' plans for 2010, Thurston may miss playing for the Cardinals because he hit .260 at Busch Stadium last year but only .161 away from St. Louis.
