Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday is out of the lineup Friday because of an "undisclosed illness," according to Fox Sports Midwest.
Holliday mysteriously disappeared following his at bat in the eighth inning Thursday against the Astros. When the team took the field in the top of the ninth, it was Joe Mather in left with no explanation about what happened to Holliday.
I wondered if maybe Holliday aggravated the rib cage injury he had during spring training or if he pulled a hamstring or something similar as he ran to first base. Hopefully the word "illness" means he has a cold or something of the like instead of an injury that would keep him out of the lineup for a prolonged period of time.
