The Cardinals fielded a kid heavy lineup Thursday against the Pirates. And the injection of youthful enthusiam paid off with a nine-run outburst that paced the Redbirds to an easy win.
Of course, Albert Pujols' 3-for-4 day with a pair of homers probably had something to do with it, too.
The homers, were number 40 and 41. It's the sixth time in his 10 seasons that he cracked the 40 homer mark.

Also chipping in were third baseman Daniel Descalso with four hits in five at bats and outfielders Nick Stavinoha and Matt Hollday with a pair of hits apiece.
Jeff Suppan continued his career of dominance over Pittsburgh with five strong innings to earn his second win of the season, 9-2. Suppan allowed four hits and two walks to give the Pirates one run. He struck out two.
