Luna hooks on with Marlins

Former Cardinals infielder Hector Luna, 30, has signed a minor league contract with the Marlins.

He hasn't played in the big leagues since 2008 when he was with the Blue Jays and had but a single at bat. He got a hit, though, and finished the season with a cool 1.000 batting average. How many guys can claim that?

Luna hit .285 for the Cardinals in 2005 and .286 split between the Cardinals and Indians in 2006, his best two seasons in the big leagues when he was a versitile utility infielder. Over 771 major league at-bats, he is a .270 hitter.

Last season, Luna was in the Dodgers minor league system.
