The Cardinals busted this game open in the middle innings on the power of Albert Pujols and his two home runs.
The bad news is that, with Kyle Lohse leaving the game after apparently injuring himself on a play at first, the Birds found themselves delving deep into their bullpen once again.

Cardinals Star of the Game: Pujols not only used his bat to make the difference in the game, he made a great leaping catch at first base in the first inning on a high throw to salvage an out. It could have prevented a big inning that may have changed the entire course of the game. He also caught the Mets starter napping and stole a base to put himself in a position to score another run.
Lowlight: P.J. Walters was bombed in a lopsided game and threatened to let the Mets back into the contest late. Fortunately, things held. But it appears Walters isn't ready to assume as spot in the major league rotation if Chris Carpenter and Lohse can't return quickly.
