The Reds are unlikely to pick up their option on infielder Orlando Cabrera, according to Cincinnati television station WKRC 12.
Cabrera, who made slightly more than $2 million last season, has a $4 million option for 2011 with a $500,000 buy out.
Judging from Cincy GM Walt Jocketty's comments -- he said it's doubtful the Reds would pick up the option but that "hopefully we can find something in the middle" the club might try to renegotiate a cheaper deal.
The Reds hold the cards in this case. They have promising young shortstop Paul Janish on the roster ... Meanwhile Cabrera's offense continues to slide. He hit .263 with four homers in 494 at bats. It's the first time he hit less than .280 in five years.
