The Cardinals cut the magic number to two Tuesday in a laugher win over Houston that made Joel Pineiro the team's third 15-game winner.
After three runs in the third inning and another three runs in the fourth, the game was pretty much never again in doubt. The only chance the Astros had to get back into it was in the bottom of the fourth when they loaded the bases with no one out and only came away with one run on a sacrifice fly.

Pineiro, who gave up five hits and a run in seven innings, got 14 groundball outs compared to five in the air. He lowered his ERA to 3.24.
Cardinals Star of the Game: Colby Rasmus was 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored and an RBI.
