The Minnesota Twins beat the Cardinals 4-2 to take the seventh and deciding game of the 1987 World Series at the Metrodome.
It was the first time in the history of the Fall Classic that it went seven games and the home team won each contest.
I didn't see the game live because I was at the U2 concert at the old St. Louis Arena. Back in the days when everyone didn't have a cell phone with access to ESPN, the only way I could follow the game was to strain my eyes to try to see into one of the boxes where they had it on television.
I couldn't see much. But I could see all the players run onto the field and celebrate at the end of the game, which I knew couldn't be a sign of good things.
