It appears that Jose Oquendo is out of the bidding to be the next manager of the Mets.
According to reports out of New York, four candidates have been asked back for a second interview: Bob Melvin, Terry Collins, Chip Hale and Wally Backman.
Oquendo has distant ties with New York, the team that signed him as a 16 year old in 1979. But the talk surrounding the club indicates that the Mets would like to find a skipper with major league managerial experience.
